The pinging system in Fortnite is one of the best additions Epic has made, but one Fortnite Redditor suggests it could be expanded.
At this point, it appears as though Apex Legends has done little to impact the staying power of Fortnite. This game was supposed to be the “Fortnite killer,” but it really ended up being the Fortnite improver.
Apex Legends brought the pinging system and reboot vans to Fortnite. Both of these additions were massive improvements to Fortnite and the BR genre as a whole.
The pinging system in Fortnite isn’t perfect, however. You can ping enemies, directions, and items, but still need voice communication to fully utilize the feature.
For instance, you can’t ping a placed Launch Pad or a Campfire for teammates who don’t have voice communications. You can say “campfire on my mark,” but that doesn’t do much good if the other player can’t hear you.
One Redditor made this point in a post on the r/FortniteBR subreddit. Jetboy1234 suggests that we should be able to ping everything, including collectibles like Fortbytes.
Am I The Only One Who Wants To Ping These? from r/FortNiteBR
Pinging items like placed Launch Pads, environmental Campfires, and Vending Machines would add enhanced versatility to the pinging system.
This suggestion is added to one about showing the stack sizes on certain items. You might not want to trek back up a hill for one Mini Shield, but you would do it for a whole stack of six.
The pinging system in Fortnite isn’t perfect, and it would be awesome to see the team make improvements to it a priority.
